Hi Peter: Finally figured out how to answer personally. My son says to watch carefully spaces, slashes, spots and dots. And, of course, that was my problem! Also, I thought if somebody mentioned my name in a text, it was alright to respond to them by pressing R. And then when I tried to write out the personal name, it never came out right. Was a little careless, I guess.

Of course, if we could get the discettes or whatever you call them, it would be fine. But you can guess, with so much work done on recording rehearsals, etc. there was little time for filing. I wouldn't know where to look, but of course, the next time I talk with John Gilmore, I'll ask him.

Richard Wilkerson, former manager of Sun Ra, who has lots of stuff since he was June Tyson's husband, has boxes and boxes of memorabilia, but obviously nobody has catalogued it, or seen it.

This is why I have been so obsessessed about the archives. So much has been either stolen, lost, or in Alton Abraham's warehouse.

I am excited about the interest in all of this, and have compiled a voluminous file to review just as soon as I can put some of the immediate projects aside. First priority is Knitting Factory Festival on Sun Ra May 22-30. NYC.

Would like more of this firmed up before announcing it!

This and the archives has been my personal project, and none of it could have happened without our list. Good feeling, isn't it, in this Golden Age of Technology which Sun Ra saw so long ago as the Space Age.

You know, Peter, with the superhighway and the Web, I'm so proud and thrilled that Sun Ra really pioneered in the whole era, and saw it all coming. It's through music and poetry that the world wakes up. Remember, he felt this planet was asleep. And the critics were with him all the time.

I'm somewhat puzzled that while he was recognized by the National Endowment of the Arts in 1980, with Thelonious Monk;, as the first Jazz Master, why John Gilmore and Marshall Allen don't get the recognition. Sad news not allowed to divulge at this time, but the annoucement will be made in a few weeks.

The others on the net are so into the music, what do you think? And why isn't the Arkestra working? We seem to have had good audiences, but the club owners are very cold. Believe me, I've called and tried to get them bookings. Just wondering why?

If this is true (!!!!), is there any chance the computer files are still extant? Or are the printouts all that are left? Obviously, if the files exist, there is no need to have Joe Moudry scan the printed sheets! The files can be reformatted and assembled into whatever database or archiving system is eventually adopted. Trudy, when you return, could you check on this?
