New book out
A new book has just appeared containing chapters based on interviews with Sun Ra, and John Gilmore [amongst others, see below]. It is published fairly obscurely, so may not be widely reviewed, or easily available through the book-trade. I have no connection at all with publisher or author, or Mole Jazz, where I got my copy.

Here's the info:
Chasing the vibration. By Graham Lock. Published by Stride Publications, 11 Sylvan Rd., Exeter, Devon EX4 6EW, England. isbn 1 873012 81 0. 192 pages. Price 9.50 pounds [About 15 dollars ?]
Mole Jazz are at 291 Pentonville Rd., London N1 9NP (telephone ++44 71 278 8623; fax ++44 71 833 1029)
Lock wrote the highly thought of book "Forces in Motion" on Anthony Braxton, after following him on a European tour. This appears to be a book of occasional pieces published since 1982: certainly two are reprinted from New Musical Express (a UK popular music weekly) most of them are well-written journalistic pieces based on interview material, not straight interview transcripts.
Other chapters are on: Steve Lacy, Cecil Taylor, Mal Waldron, Abdullah Ibrahim, Max Roach, Horace Tapscott, Betty Carter, Marilyn Crispell, Leo Smith, Jimmy Giuffre, Horace Tapscott, Dave Holland, Sunny Murray, Kenny Wheeler, Mike Westbrook, Norma Winstone, Evan Parker, The Guest Stars, and a review of the video on Billie Holiday "The Lady & the Legend".
