an announcement to all ...
The "announcement" messages since July 25 have triggered several appropriately private e-mail messages (in light of the Arkestra's often requested policy on the Saturn List that internal Arkestra business matte= rs are not for public discussion) from members of the Saturn List to Marshal= l Allen and Elson Nascimento. In order to avoid any confusion to people o= n or off of the Saturn List with whom the Arkestra has professional busines= s relations, all Arkestra business activities are continuing without interruption with the previously long established booking and business agents for the Sun Ra Arkestra under the direction of Marshall Allen. It=
is important to reinforce the positive contributions of these people (for=
example Jack Reich's 20 years as booking agent for the Arkestra) and the contact information for them is posted at the end of this message for tho= se who have not seen this in previous message postings to the Saturn List. It might help for members of the Saturn List to also be reminded that Marshall Allen is the recognized leader of the Arkestra and is fully=
in charge of the Arkestra. The Sun Ra Arkestra under the direction of Marshall Allen in the past 12 months has been building strength and momentum especially with its two European tours. During those tours, the=
Arkestra performed for the first time ever in Ireland, was greeted by enthusiastic standing room only audiences on many of its engagements, and=
visited former venues to the delight of its fans and friends. During the=
past year, the Arkestra has been invited more and more to major festivals=
based on the positive reputation that it is generating. There is only one unique Arkestra, currently comprised of members=
who understand the principles taught by Sun Ra, which include the collective support for one organization. Many of the dedicated veterans = of the Arkestra who spent continuous time within the Arkestra and always stayed focused on the Arkestra vision (like John Gilmore, James Jacson, E= lo Omoe, June Tyson, Danny Davis, Pat Patrick, and many others) are no longe= r with us. But, the current veteran members of the Sun Ra Arkestra under t= he direction of Marshall Allen have remained loyal to the discipline, understanding, and integrity of the Arkestra and its legacy. Many of the= se musicians live at the Arkestra house or in the Philadelphia and New York City area in order to be available for the rehearsals that Marshall Allen=
conducts and in order to reinforce the understanding of the principles th= at Sun Ra himself taught the Arkestra. Marshall Allen has always been prepared to have veteran Sun Ra Arkestra musicians return to the Arkestra. The Arkestra was taught by Su= n Ra to always be ready, and they are prepared for any volume of engagement= s that come to the Arkestra through the official channels. Sun Ra always said that bigger is better and the size of the Arkestra can grow dependin= g on the financial conditions for booking the Arkestra. Those who witnesse= d the 100 piece Arkestra that Sun Ra led at the Lenox Chalet in New York Ci= ty many years ago know that, under the proper conditions, the Arkestra can d= o things that no other organization can possibly imagine. The legacy of the Arkestra is critical to the veterans of the Arkestra, its fans, and supporters. The Arkestra has been pleased to sha= re information on the Sun Ra legacy with the estate of Sun Ra. One factor f= or the future of the Arkestra and its legacy is based on Sun Ra's example of=
keeping a consistent and unique Arkestra. In order to avoid distractions to the creative efforts being accomplished by the Arkestra and by Marshall Allen, the Arkestra appreciates and welcomes all serious offers and grants to go through the proper channels. This helps prevent interference with the important work=
that Marshall Allen does with the Arkestra. The following are the offici= al booking and business agents to be contacted for the Sun Ra Arkestra under=
