Tribute - 4/13 Tone Scientists

Well I have let almost a week pass..but here is my review of last Saturday Night-Aptil 13th's Sun RA Tribute.

I short while back someon one on Saturn, in reference to a SUNNY ARK show said.... "all thats gone now"... Well THAT may be, but something else exists that certainly is moving alot of folks, "the satilites are spinnninggggOOOOOOOO". I can't help but feel that Sunny may be very adept at operating from the other planes where he now dwells. When seeing the Arkestra Nov. 7th in Storrs, CT I heard two folks comment on feeling his presence, well at the 4/13 Tribute at Fire & Water in Northampton MA overheard one key band member tell another of feeling chills after feeling RA presence, I will note this came after some great playing by this individual. Add this to James Jackson's comment's about RA's spirit on the stairs of Morton Street, and you have at least one Saturn Subscriber who feels that if nothing else the Trails of RA's comet remain significantly altering our planet's vibrations. I know he lives in many a man's Myth World. So now that I have opened with my space shot onto the Trudy Morse/Brian Bender - TONE SCIENTISTS SUN RA Tribute - Saturday Night April 13 11:OO pm. This was my first time into Fire & Water a "Vegaterian Cafe/Perfomance Space", arrived about 10:30, the first band Jidaketa(Not tech park of the Tribute) was on.. very nice Congas,flute,piano,BASS/poetry crew. Right away was struck by the comfortable vibe of the place, like wandering into a friends living room. Met Trudy for first time, having conversed with her about RA poetry and RA through E-MAIL after getting E-Mail address from this list. Fire & Water was decorated with XEROX BLOWUPS of RA PHOTOS and Poetry, most same as can be found in "COMET.." CD liner notes, one of the band members, I did get an informal band list after show, believe it was Jim Vogel/it was whoever played electronic horn....has a bunch of record sleeves he distributed around..setup in spots... the vibe was set.. Trudy and Brian led a band of about 14..here is my informal list ....Brian on Trombone, John Saprague-? maybe the great sax player, Michael Soute - Bass,Bill Winslow("THAT GUY")-Piano,Joe Bartone-Guitar, Jim Vogel-Electonic horn/space vocal sounds, Two Fire & Water folks - the owner -Star Drooker & Chris Hamer on percussions,Rich Andrews-Drum set.. The funcky Shanti, Amy ..others on percussions/great vocals on Space is the Place. ...This list is leaving out folks and probably misspelling a few names..any corrections are welcome!

Bottom line the band sounded great.. ending with Space is the Place with the crowd..who was encouraged to join in..doing so as many had their own percussions, etc. Trudy & Brian keep the ebb & flow of the band waving nicely. A good time was had by all..and the RA vibration was deeply felt. After the show the living room vibe of the place really hit home as the Video "Space is the Place" was shown on TV and about 20 folks sat around & watched. I spoke to Trudy late into the evening..as I own the video and have seen many times.. enjoyed the conversation .Always find it interesting the different angles & perspectives people take on RA's work...look foward to seeing her again and returning to Fire & Water.
