I quite fondly remember a time when posts to this lists started with a greeting formula like for example " Saturnians" or "Fellow Saturnites". Those were the polite days and I think many contributers like Len(ni) and Anton have been witnessing conversation threads here from the early '90s.

What I'd like to share is first of all this question: "Why do we devote our precious time to this discussion list?" Phrased differently: "What brings us here?" of even shorter: "Why bother?" To me, answers would include statements like: - I find people here who like Sun Ra and his music, - its about meeting intelligent people from all over the world that freely share facts, insights, knowledge and passion, - its exciting to see worlds come together and opinions contradict.

I would contribute more if this wasn't a foreign language and (more important) i'd have more to offer.

So now as to the museum thread: thank you all for being passionate and articulate. Len(ni): my undies are in the same condition as ever (although I do not know what a wad is... so that might be a permanent state :-)) ). Knoel: I completely see what you mean: the message is spreading and for that proces to continue there is no museum needed. Jeffry: Same for me: I celebrate Sun Ra's legacy every by listening to his music and telling others about this beauty and inspiration. Gary: Thank you for sharing your skin cell metafor. Thank you even more for pointing out clearly what function a museum might have. Anton: Thank you for bringing up this point (and for sticking to it!). All contributors: None of us is in posession of The Complete Truth, are we?

So, although indeed spreading inspiration does not need a museum, without doubt a quality centre of expertise could offer a valuable contribution in keeping Sun Ra's legacy alive for the next generations. As allways, it will prove difficult to organise such centre without the risk of people dominating, controlling, or editing facts and history to their own benefits.
