Tim,

You can help by sending money to James Jackson, 5626 Morton Street, Philadelphia, PA 19144. John Gilmore is the Arkestra's leader, but his health is very poor and he's delegated the financial end to Jackson, who was behind the recent incorporation of the Arkestra.

The legal situation is really a mess. It may take several years to settle Ra's estate. The claimants are Ra's relatives, Alton Abraham, and the Arkestra. Given the usual biases of American judges, the Arkestra is unlikely to be recognized in the settlement unless they're represented by a good lawyer (and they're not currently represented by a lawyer at all). In the meantime, Ra's share of the royalties from Arkestra recordings in print is being frozen or turned over to the family.
