Maestro Marshall Allen in New York City tonight !!

Sorry for the late notice... The great Marshall Allen can be heard tonight in New York City at the Stone, northwest corner of Ave. A and 2nd St. on Manhattan's lower East Side, at 1O p.m. in Scott Robinson's group Live from Space Farms, also with Pat O'Leary, Kevin Norton, and special guest Henry Grimes.

"Time Out New York" gave this a "critics' pick" and added, "Madcap multi-instrumentalist Scott Robinson always leads a zany crew, but tonight the trajectory is definitely extraplanetary as Sun Ra Arkestra alto saxophonist Marshall Allen and Stone guest curator Henry Grimes lend their talents."

The Stone's Web site says, "In 2OO5, an all-star quartet including saxophonists Scott Robinson and Marshall Allen recorded in a cow pasture at Space Farms in NJ, utilizing the incredible tower of huge antique cast-iron bells standing there. The resulting CD, "Live at Space Farms," was issued earlier this year. Tonight this group reconvenes, with special guest Henry Grimes added, for a set of freewheeling and far-reaching improvised music which will incorporate the recorded sounds of the bells of Space Farms. Buckle up! Tickets are $15 at the door. Opening at 8 p.m. is the great violinist and singer Charles Burnham ($1O at the door).
