Jim- Can't help with your first request, but for other examples of mixing jazz with spoken word, try Roland Kirk, who did it frequently. One good example is his version of "The Old Rugged Cross", which is on, I think, Volunteered Slavery (Atlantic). I know it's on the Atlantic compilation called The Vibration Continues.
