supporting the Arkestra

To pass on something James Jackson said in a recent phone call - he really is appreciative of our voluntary contributions from tape trees and exchanges: every small amount is very welcome, he says. He doesn't see this Saturn list, but I gather that thanks to Donald Glasgo, Robert Campbell and others he has a pretty clear picture of us, and likes the support.

Jackson seemed very upbeat and cheerful, sounding as if he had active plans for work for the Arkestra. I hope that's so.

Oh, and the voluntary contributions must still be made out to Jackson or to John Gilmore at this stage. Jackson says that although the Arkestra foundation is now incorporated, it is still enmeshed in the coils of government bureaucracy: it hasn't yet got an agreed tax status, so it can't operate its own bank account.
