Steve was a long time resident of Sacramento and is where he died. A picture of Steve can be seen here: http://lee-santa.artistwebsites.com/featured/steve-gundhi-lee-santa.html
Gundhi (a.k.a. Gundy) was a close friend of Pharoah Sanders and had played with
him many times over the years, most recently at Yoshi’s in Oakland. They used
to run together in the early 60's (may have been late 50s?) and wound up living together for awhile in a
house in Oakland, CA that the residents called “The Big House”. Besides Steve and
Pharoah, others who lived and/or played and practiced at “The Big House” were
Michael White, Smiley Winters, Maurice Jackson, Manny Goldsmith, etc.
played with LeGrand Rogers (who he had an over 40 year musical association), John Tchicai, Dexter Gordon, Wes Montgomery, Monk Montgomery, John Hicks, Calvin Keys, Jim
Pepper, blues musician Charles Brown and many others.

Steve Gundhi (Stevenson Gundy, Jr.) was my uncle. I thank you Lee Santa for the beautiful photography of my uncle. I have started a facebook page entitled "Saxophone legend Steve Gundhi". I have linked the photo's from your website on the page as well. Please feel free to join the page, invite others and share information.
