Who would have thunk it?
Jazz at Lincoln Center

Sun Ra Turns 100: Sun Ra Arkestra with Marshall Allen
Sun Ra incorporated elements drawn from black vaudeville, modern dance,
Egyptian cosmology, Eastern philosophy, numerology, surrealism, kitsch, and
the Bible to serve a corpus that deployed African rhythms, atonal melodies,
electronic timbres, raw blues expression, unfailing swing, and one-for-all
discipline drawn from the big bands that a internalized in his youth. Sun Ra
lives on in the current edition of the Sun Ra Arkestra, led by alto
saxophonist-woodwindist Marshall Allen.

Oh? "Tickets for this event are not on sale"? Does that mean not yet, or
does it mean the tickets will be free of charge, or...?

The Allen Room (renamed as of now for Maestro Marshall Allen, though it was
called the Allen Room before) is in the Time-Warner Center, Broadway and
60th St. in Manhattan (NYC), 212-258-9800. Any train, bus, or other vehicle
to 59th St. & Columbus Circle will get you there.

Yes, well, lots of things are out of kilter at Lincoln Center. But maybe
they just couldn't wait any longer to honor Sun Ra.

as with anything to do with astronomy, to be within two orders of magnitude is considered accurate enough to publish ;)
