Can you help us? SUN RA REQUEST

I work for the reissue labels Poppydisc and Rev-Ola records, we are about to embark on a vinyl reissue series of various album across many genres.

All of these albums will be remastered from the original tapes and are all licensed. However we need your help. . .

One of our planned reissues is The Futuristic Sounds Of Sun Ra. (In the red bongo 'Harvey' sleeve) We can not find a vinyl copy of this for love nor money. Can anyone here please give us high quality scans of the lp sleeve or high quality pics of this. Front and back covers please and a dpi of least 300. we shall give you a credit on the new reissue and send you a finished lp.

THIS IS A GENUINE REQUEST

hope someone can help us

Why don't you get in touch with the Arkestra? At the same time you
can arrange to pay them royalties for your "reissue"?

Who have you contacted for permission to release this? How were you
able to get the original master tapes but not the cover art?

this record overseas has fallen into public domain and was reissued already on cd

http://www.amazon.com/Futuristic-Sounds-Sun-Ra/dp/B000FBFZF4/ref=sr_1_1?...

they've now changed copyright laws extensions overseas so you won't see any shoddy beatles & stones licensed reissues like the first dylan record that was
already issued like all those old blues/r&B collections and massive clamshell sets of jazz appearing everywhere

I'm curious about this. When you say "overseas" which country or countries? Laws vary from country to country.

I'm as staunch a supporter of copyright as you'll find, but I'm very concerned about things where a third grader can get hauled off in handcuffs for doodling Mickey Mouse™ on the margin of his homework but the recordings of musicians who are still alive can't demand any royalties.

I'm also curious about the copyright extensions you mentioned. Do those changes extend or rescind extensions of copyright?

This has also made me concerned—my copy of Futuristic Sounds is on CD and I don't know where I bought it (probably about fifteen years ago). How likely is it that I have a legitimately licensed CD?
