Re: Sunny/Sharrock

Sharrock studied with Ra some time in the mid-60s. In an interview he said his studies consisted mostly of watching films that Ra checked out of the library and hanging out with the band. While he was there Olatunji called looking for a guitar player. They said "We have one right here" Sharrock worked for Olatunji then. His first appearence on record (that I know of) is on Pharoah Sanders 1966 lp "Tauhid." He also appeared on albums by Marzette Watts (on ESP), Brute Force (1968 band feat. Stan Strickland & Ted Daniel), Herbie Mann, Miles Davis "Jack Johnson" and more that I'm forgetting. He also made 3 or 4 albums with his own groups from the late 60s to early 70s. Then he appeared on Material albums in the late 70s - early 80s and started up a new band which recorded several albums for Enemy.
