Books debut SWEETS AND OTHER STORIES and also from his his upcoming
(Spring 2012) sequel STREETS

Meet Michael D. Anderson from the Sun Ra Music Archive as he reads
from THIS PLANET IS DOOMED, the latest "hip pocket paperback" from
Kicks Books. Michael worked with Norton Records on their vinyl release
of three volumes of unissued spoken word poetry and polemics from the
Archive entitled STRANGE WORLDS IN MY MIND, THE SUB-DWELLERS, and THE
OUTER DARKNESS.

DOOMED draws from these recordings and many other lost poems, to form
a chilling collection of science-fictionary musings and
confrontational social commentary.

Revered poet AMIRI BARAKA's foreword and science-fiction historian
BHOB STEWART's introductory commentary set the scene for this jarring
selection of lost writings, rhymes and ruminations from the king of
Afro-Futurism.

The publication of THIS PLANET IS DOOMED marks the availability via
The Orchard of the downloads of the vinyl Norton albums.

Opening the evening's reading will be the legendary ANDRE WILLIAMS,
whose recent rise to his role as novelist was sparked with SWEETS,
which he wrote entirely in rehab. He has completed a sequel, STREETS,
which will sees publication in the Spring. Andre will be reading from
both SWEETS and STREETS on this very special evening celebrating the
first two perusables from Kicks Books.

Kicks Books are all published with a promotional perfume which
perfectly matches the book at hand. The new scent that travels with
DOOMED is named, of course, SATURNIA. This out of this world fragrance
hearkens to Mars, the stars and beyond.
