Somebody Else's World - lyrics

Can anyone help me with the lyrics to "Somebody else's World". I've listened to numerous versions (MBTW2, Paris 71, Binghamton, Oakland, Electric circus) and can never understand June in the middle lines  -"what seems to be need not be what we are to be for what was is only because of an ????????? need not be the only planet to build a world on". Thanks for any assistance with this.

re: Somebody Else's World - lyrics

Thanks so very much, ihor!

I'm producing a new recording of this song, done by the Waitiki 7, with vocals by r&b singer Barrence Whitfield, for release later this year. Now we can finish it! I'll let the list know when it's out, in case anyone is interested.

brcleve - i am! most definitely post a link to an mp3 of your
version, if you can? i am particularly interested in seeing how your
singer handles the lyrics and the tempo. those lyrics are a bit of a
tongue twister.

Somebody Else's World - lyrics

the recording isn't completed yet. Did basic tracks last week in Los Angeles, adding vocals and my keyboards in a few weeks in Boston.

Barrence and I were reminiscing about seeing the Arkestra perform an epic 45 minute version of "Somebody else's World" at Nightstage in Cambridge, MA back in '89. I believe a tape of some of that exists. Barrence Whitfield & The Savages shared the stage with the Arkestra in NYC in the late 80's (at S.O.B.'s, I think) and he has recorded Sun Ra compositions with the Concussion Ensemble in the early 90's (great version of "I'm Gonna Unmask The Batman"), so I think he's going to do well with this. Waitiki 7 is an exotica ensemble. According to Szwed, Ra was a fan of exotica, and I've arranged this piece in a Les Baxter style. The song always sounded to me like something from Baxter's "Space Escapade" album.
