I think these ideas are complementary. Surely you don't think buying CDs is charity! Plus buying and giving away CDs is a way to build listeners either among friends or hopefully among a radio audience.

For us far away there would also be travel expenses .... so we would need more partners, perhaps a performing arts organization, theater, or school. Each of these main contacts could get a CD along with a letter to start things rolling.

If someone goes for this, feel free to contact me -- I have done concert promotion and radio and can provide advice on getting the word out ...

So maybe everybody can focus on contacting your area venues, booking agents, arts centers, festivals, concert presenters, presenting organizations, colleges, museums, jazz societies, everyone you know (including yourselves) to accomplish this.

Or if that doesn't work, let's say you know 25 fans in your area who love the Arkestra and have never heard the Arkestra in person. Now, you may ask why the Arkestra isn't getting enough work, and there are reasons, and none of them have to do with a lack of brilliance in the Arkestra or with a lack of desire in the audiences.
