Just chiming in again with my two cents - I've gotten 16 of the VIA/Calibre ESP-Disk reissues so far(all that I could find, with the exception of the 3000 series reissues that I'm not as interested in) and all of them sound better than the mid-90s ZYX reissues to varying degrees. The new edition of the Paul Bley Quintet's "Barrage"(w/Marshall Allen)sounds so much better than the ZYX CD, it's criminal. With the exception of "Heliocentric Worlds Vol. 2" that I mentioned earlier, the covers on the Calibre CDs attempt to more closely follow the original vinyl, and include alternate covers in most cases. The art is reduced only on the outer slipcover and rendered normally on the actual CD cover. The ZYX CDs were OK for the time, only around $10 apiece, and it was easy to get them all, but too many were mastered from vinyl and there were an awful lot of defective copies - I know someone who thought that the channel dropouts on the ZYX Byron Allen CD were some intentional production trick, until he heard the new remastered CD. It remains to be seen how deep into the ESP/Base catalog Calibre is going to delve, but hopefully soon we'll see great titles by Ronnie Boykins, Henry Grimes, and Patty Waters restored to full sonic glory.

As you all know that ESP back catalog has been reissue on several labels in different packages, Can any ESP fans suggest whose has done the best job: good cover/ package, good remastering, sleeve notes, etc coz i want to order them online but i don't like the collection which features reduced cover art at the centre of the booklet (can't remember which label that was) and people who have bought can perhaps compare the sound quality my collection are the japanese edition released 5, 6 years ago which are quite nice but some titles i could not find anymore.
