[approximately] Halloween in Harlem!!

Observed with joy in a booklet entitled "Jazz at Columbia 2OO4-2OO5" and confirmed by the great Charles Davis:

Friday, 1O/29/O4: It's a Halloween Haunt Sun Ra Arkestra East Room, Faculty House, 3rd floor, 8 p.m.

FREEEEEE!!

The address of Faculty House is 4OO West 117th St. betw.Amsterdam & Morningside Ave's, Village of Harlem, New York City; enter through courtyard on 116th St.

Information: (212) 851~1633, 854~12OO, 854~1754, www.jazz.columbia.edu, www.columbia.edu/fachouse, jazz@columbia.edu.

Be there early, because in previous years "Security" restricted access to the East Room once a crowd began to gather.

There are quite a few other good things going on under the auspices of Jazz at Columbia this season, including a free concert with Dee Dee Bridgewater, Taj Mahal, Eddie Palmieri, and McCoy Tyner; a keynote speech by Toni Morrison; a symposium and exhibit honoring the 1OOth birthday of Coleman Hawkins; a Romare Bearden exhibit with speakers including Jackie McLean; and more. So get yourself one of these booklets!

I wonder if they'll be using my Sun Ra pin design for the poster again...
