Re: stardust from tomorrow
That's a fantastic idea, Charles!
Reading your note reminded me of an old post on the Transparency MySpace page where as part of a larger article, a fellow named David Kronemeyer transcribed one of Sun Ra's declamations. I just checked and found that it is still there. er... I mean
HERE<http://blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=3Dblog.view&friendId=3D= 79809502&blogId=3D428754398>
The recitation is an "untitled Declamation that appears at 8:25 on Live at the Horseshoe Tavern (recorded March 13, 1978, disc III)"
I have many names =96 Names of mystery, names of splendor, and names of shame. You sleep in the deep dark Babylonian night, Dreaming, thinking this illusion that you call life is real. It's just an illusion, an infinite conclusion. This is not life! They think this is life, they think this is real. How could you dare to say this world of misery is the ultimate of being? How can you dare to call this thing of existence, life? This is not life =96 this is death disguised as life. It is not real. This misery, this world of pain and distraction, is not life. I know what life is =96 life is not full of tears =96 Life knows no death. How can it be life, if there is truth? No, this is not life. You are only asleep and dreaming. Just dreaming of sleep, in the deep dark Babylonian night. You are dreaming that you are doing all the things you did, before you die. You will die dreaming. Cry, cry for the people of earth, cry to heaven. Maybe heaven will hear, and the people no longer will have to die. Why should you have to die? Is there any reason why? What does it prove? Look for something else. Bypass dying, and by bypass death. Look for being =96 all that you can be =96 and continue to be, just as mill= ions of beings. Being =96 immortal, eternal being. It's not life, it's not death. Let us do it together, across the sea of immortality, beyond the furthest stars. Let us journey together across the sea of immortality. Let us go somewhere there, many light years in space, Where human beings have never been, That human eyes have never seen, And human feet have never trod. Take my hand, I'm a stranger from paradise. I know that I'm a member of an angel race, My home is somewhere there out in outer space, Somewhere there, many light years away, in a world outside dreams. I'll wait for you, somewhere there.

Hello,
Thank you for transcribing a beautiful set of lyrics.
This coincides with a thought I've had recurring of late:
To transcribe Sun Ra's recitations. There are so many recitations in recordings throughout the years - This is incredibly rich and ripe material to be written down. Well worth compiling for the community IMO. (Could be contained under the banner, 'Stardust From Tomorrow' ?)

Sounds pretty much right to me. The only word I'd change is the end of the second line. "Yours for the demanding" rather than "yours for the man= y." Otherwise, I think that's it.

Wow! That IS tough...
I also found Stardust From Tomorrow both on the Slugs set (lyrics are virtually unintelligible) and on Mayan Temples (where the lyrics are clearest and are repeated twice). Here's the best I can make out:
Stardust From Tomorrow
You should decide so folks I'm telling you life could be most enchantin= g. Each world is a shining star though we be near or far, yours for the many.

I'm not aware of a Sun Ra lyrics page. Great idea, though!! -john
