thank you ahmed. i cant tell you how sad it is that people who have made such great contibutions to cultural life (and our own person happiness) should have to rely on charity. i mean it is one thing that jazz musicians dont get rich but another that hey must die prematurely from lack of health care. but htis isnt new. verdi provided out of his estate for the establishment for a home for aged opera singers. it continues to function to this day (perhaps gianni can tell us about it). so as we can see artists can have it rough all over the world.
