"Sounds of Jazz" hosted by Rev. Lee


This is a request for help. I created 13 one hour jazz programs for a new local community radio station in Sandpoint, Idaho, KRFY 88.5 http://www.krfy.org/, (that have yet to be approved for air time) & I have, at this point, run into a wall of ignorance, esp. from the production manager who refered
to some of the music as "scratchy sax" & "Harlem heroin crazy jazz". The latter I found to be very offensive & racist. The shows I created contain music by Sun Ra, RRK, Albert Ayler, Cecil Taylor, Trane, Ornette, Pharoah, Sunny Murray, Burton Greene, as well as more "main stream" stuff. What I would like is for those of you who support this kinda music,
show yet more support by emailing the parties who will be making the decision about my program ("Sounds of Jazz" hosted by Rev. Lee).

Hi!

 

Maybe you could just show them some excerpts from
respectable mainstream books that say this music is great, important and
beautiful? Like the Penguin guide to jazz. That's very not "suspuct",
lol.
