interesting details (though plenty of mystery remaining) on the "Earliest" box.

Michael told me that he has a special offer for those who pre-ordered 'The Earliest' now that the collection is so much larger than originally planned (14 discs now). He didn't say anything specific but it seemed/sounded like it might be some time before the big collection is ready to go to pressing and ship.

Interesting indeed! Looks like there's some overlap with the Atavistic
releases of early stuff.

'Earliest'
FYI,
I received another email this morning that the first box will be shipping this spring... sooner than I expected, that's for sure! So the DVD is shipping out now, The Red Garter is shipping in a month or two, followed shortly thereafter by the 'The Earliest.'
Sounds like we're in for a pret-ty nice year, wouldn'tcha say?

This is an amazing project, and we are so lucky that Michael Anderson and Michael Sheppard are working together to give fans a dream boxed set. I don't think in the hands of a 'traditional' music label, anything like this would ever come out, or would take years and cost way way more.
The only glaring omission that I could see when reading the track list was "Treasure Hunt" from 1951. I asked Michael S. about this, and he said he's talk with the other Michael about it. I'm not sure if it's known by another name, as I've only read about it, never heard it, but it's listed in the Earthly Recordings, so I assumed it was known to collector's.
It makes me excited about what could be compiled for a box set from the '60s, especially anything from the NY period (my favourite).

The demo is mind-expanding - I'm surprised there aren't more comments
about this project.
Some of the items are astounding and the documentary aspect is captivating.
By the way, 'Treasure Hunt' was provided by Anderson for one of the
mid-1990's WKCR broadcasts, so he could include it. However, this box
as massive as it is still only touches the surface of what's in
Anderson's 'Sun Ra Archive'.
