News on new Saturn home PLEASE READ

Dear Saturnites, Saturnoids, and Saturnalia—

As you know, the nic.surfnet.nl listserv mailing list server will no longer host the Saturn list, and this list will shut down at the end of December 31 of 2010. The time has come to migrate across the wilderness of cyberspace to a new home where we can continue to celebrate, speculate, debate, and even spectate (lurk) about all topics about Sun Ra and the Arkestra.

Over the past few weeks the beta team has been busy trying out the new mailing list and website, and I'd like to think that it is ready for us to take occupancy. It's time to perform the migration. Here is the new website:

http://outerspaceways.info/user/password

and the new list address:

saturn@outerspaceways.info

==Keep reading!==

The process won't be invisible, so I want to prepare everyone for what will happen in the coming hours.

==What will happen==

Everyone currently subscribed to this list will automatically be given a new account on the new website and mailing list. In addition, everyone who has posted to the list has already automatically had an account created for them on the website, associated with past posts from the website.

==if you are a lurker==

If you've never posted to the list, you will get an email informing you of your new website account and an autogenerated password. It will also have a one-time link that will allow you to log in and change your password to something you'd prefer.

==if you have posted to the list before==

Your website account has already been created and associated with past posts in the archive! What you'll need to do is go to

http://outerspaceways.info/user/password

enter the email address to which you're subscribed and you'll get the password link described above for the lurkers.

On your account page will be a tab for "mailing lists subscriptions." Go to it to set your preferences for digest mode, vacation mode, or regular delivery.

Please note: everyone has been set to regular delivery. If you have been on vacation mode or digest mode, you'll have to set yourself back. I apologize for the inconvenience.

If you have any questions or need help, feel free to email me directly at steve@smscotten.com
